BSCSP GIS Efforts

The Partnership's GIS activities involve the development and maintenance of three core elements:

  • Big Sky Carbon Database Management Infrastructure: an integrated, three-tiered approach comprised of local users or client, GIS server and a relational database server.
  • Big Sky Carbon Data Libraries: There are currently two libraries. The first contains regional and selected national data; the second contains site-level project data.
  • Big Sky Carbon Atlas: the web-based geoportal that provides access to:
    • Static maps and associated resources that describe regional factors affecting sequestration potential and project-level site characteristics;
    • Distributed mapping, including a custom interactive map and published GIS services assuring reliable, enterprise-level dissemination, fusion, and coupling of data to project scientists and other stakeholders;
    • Data Resources - list of current GIS layers within the Carbon Atlas SDE database; Download acess of raw GIS data for Partner's only coming soon!
