Ms. Pamela L. Tomski is the Managing Partner of EnTech Strategies, LLC, a firm specializing in energy technology, policy, and communications that also assists companies commercialize energy technologies and develop research and development (R&D) funding strategies.
Since 1996, Ms. Tomski has been designing and implementing high-level strategic workshops for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy (DOE). She has also applied this methodology to the Energy Future Coalition’s Coal Future Working Group to develop joint industry and environmental NGO policy recommendations on advanced coal technologies and carbon capture and storage. In the broader area of climate change technology, Ms. Tomski catalogued U.S. federal government R&D activities across agencies and produced the U.S. Climate Change Current Activities Report and the International Energy Agency’s (IEA) Technology Status Report on Zero Emission Technologies for Fossil Fuels.
Ms. Tomski currently directs two large carbon sequestration communications initiatives: the IEA’s Zero Emissions Technology Initiative for the Americas and the DOE Big Sky Carbon Sequestration Partnership encompassing Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, and South Dakota. On behalf of the IEA, she is planning a Carbon Sequestration Conference for Energy and Environmental Journalists in 2005, and is conducting a study on industry’s view of early commercial opportunities for carbon capture and storage. In the Big Sky region, Ms. Tomski is engaged in extensive outreach to various stakeholder groups through individual meetings, roundtables, conferences and seminars. She also represents DOE, the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy and the Research Council of Norway to advance bilateral cooperation in the area of energy technology R&D, including carbon sequestration. In the summer of 2004, Ms. Tomski collaborated with Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) to design a 10-day program on carbon capture and geologic storage for 20 U.S. and Norwegian students that attracted 25 faculty members from leading U.S. laboratories, universities, and industry. This program will be institutionalized at LANL in 2005 as the Research Experience in Carbon Sequestration and Ms. Tomski will serve as the co-Director. She also provides programmatic consulting services to LANL in the areas of carbon, hydrogen, and water and represents private sector companies to commercialize energy technologies and design R&D funding strategies. Prior to her involvement in the energy sector, Ms. Tomski was a partner in Trans Global Trading, Inc. where she assisted clients develop export market strategies and structure trade and project finance through the private sector and U.S. government programs. She received a B.A. in International Affairs and Middle East History from George Washington University in 1993.
