Regulatory Activities

Clear regulatory guidelines do not presently exist for carbon sequestration. However, the success of carbon capture and sequestration will be in part dependent on the regulatory framework used to govern its implementation. Based on field test design and validation, the Partnership is working to develop a scientific-based regulatory regime. Contributing to the development of a regulatory framework is the Regulatory and Public Involvement Action Plan outlining the various regulatory permitting requirements (including NEPA) required for the field validation tests and full-scale implementation projects.
